Resolve to Save Lives (2020 – 2024)

The first COVID-19 case in Zimbabwe was reported on 20 March 2020. The Infection Control Association of Zimbabwe Trust in partnership with Biomedical Research & Training Institute received funding from Resolve to Save Lives to strengthen the Ministry of Health & Child Care (MoHCC) Infection Prevention and Control Response to the COVID-19 outbreak in Zimbabwe. The project supported 7 rural provinces (Mashonaland East, Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland West, Manicaland, Masvingo, Midlands, Matebeleland North) and each province had 4 targeted districts. IPC COVID-19 training material was developed and rolled out extensively as part of measures which were undertaken to capacitate the healthcare workers in the primary health care facilities to manage the outbreak. COVID-19 Guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures were also developed. The project supported the procurement and distribution of tents, furniture and equipment to facilitate screening and triaging of patients.
